I took this shot while out walking by some lakes near St Albans. The only bit of the picture which is in focus is the top of the gate post, and I like the sense of mystery about the shot.

This was taken not long after the previous image at Hertford, also with the Lensbaby.

This was taken last week at Hertford with the Lensbaby. I love the simple arrangement of the three trees. From the Chasing Dreams series, which can be seen on my Facebook commercial page at

Also taken the same day as the previous two images, but near the Tower of London, with the Lensbaby 3G selective focus lens. From the "Chasing Dreams" series.

This was also taken at Shad Thames, while sitting outside Starbucks with a coffee. It's one of my favourites from that day. Part of my "Chasing Dreams" project, the two galleries of 120 pictures can be seen on my Facebook commercial page at

I shot this just over a week ago at Shad Thames in London, near Tower Bridge, with the Lensbaby 3G. It's a great spot for photography and I like going for a walk there for a few hours sometimes.

A piece of graffito seen at Hertford earlier this year. I like the sense of mystery...who loves whom? Taken with the 70mm lens (equivalent to 105mm in 35mm terms). Part of the "Urban Stories" series, which can be seen on my Facebook commercial page at
Some of the pics from that series are also in the Urban Views gallery on the website here.

I like the simplicity of this arrangement, taken at Forty Hall, Enfield, north London, with the Lensbaby.

I like the symmetry to this picture and the fact that only the central tree is in focus. Taken at Forty Hall, Enfield, in North London, with the Lensbaby. From "Chasing Dreams".

I love this picture; the juxtaposition of the two main elements and the "going against the flow" theme. Taken at St Albans, Hertfordshire, with the Lensbaby 3G. From the "Chasing Dreams" series on my Facebook page

At St Albans again, I noticed the shadows caused by the low winter sun on the wall, so I waited in a good spot for people to appear. I had about three seconds between the shadows coming onto the wall and the people appearing in the frame. From the "Chasing Dreams" series.

Taken, again with the Lensbaby 3G, at St Albans, Hertfordshire. It has an eerie quality or sense of mystery to it. From the "Chasing Dreams" series on my Facebook page, at

Also taken near Spitalfields. I like the way the man on the phone seems to be dissolving.
These pictures are from the "Chasing Dreams" series. The albums, parts one and two, can be seen on my Facebook commercial page at

Taken at the same cafe while I had a coffee outside.

Friday, January 09, 2009

This was taken just before the previous image at the cafe. It has an air of busyness or bustle about it.

This was taken recently with the Lensbaby 3G near Spitalfields Market in London. I like that the only thing in focus in the scene is a small amount of the plant. There's a slight air of mystery with many shots taken with this lens. From my series "Chasing Dreams", of which there are over 90 images so far, which can all be seen on my Facebook commercial page at

My first blog

Thursday, January 08, 2009

Hi,

this is my first blog, so if anyone's reading...hello and welcome to Grey Haven Photographic. Firstly I need to say a huge thank you to my friend Neil for both creating my website and working on my blog, so thanks very much Neil.

In this blog I'll be musing on all things photographic, and especially black and white, and uploading my latest pictures. If anyone feels the desire, please feel free to comment on pictures. I always like feedback, and criticism, both positive and negative, helps one's photography improve.

I've recently started ( Nov 08) using a Lensbaby selective focus lens (type Lensbaby 3G), and am in love with it! I haven't shot with anything else since buying it! It suits my picture-making style. The latest pictures are from using this lens. I also have a commercial page on Facebook, which can be seen at

My latest photo project, "Chasing Dreams", all taken with the Lensbaby selective focus lens, can be see there, but I will also publish some of my favourites from that project here.

About Me

My Photo
Grey Haven Photographic
I also have a commercial page on Facebook, which can be seen at http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/Grey-Haven-Photographic-by-Tony-Littlejohns/54789919104 Tony Littlejohns is a UK photographer currently based in London who is trying to establish his business, his main interest being in the black and white fine art sector. He started photography in 1985, and within a few years discovered the beauty of black and white. Though he now works digitally, he tends to apply basically the same techniques that he learned in the darkroom during the 90s to his picture-making process; with some exceptions…technology is there to be used, after all! Elliott Erwitt and Henri Cartier-Bresson were big influences on his photography from early on. He is drawn to visual ironies, abstractions and juxtapositions and loves being on the streets with his camera to record those fleeting moments. Tony has recently started a love affair with the Lensbaby selective focus lenses, which he feels suits his style of pictures.
